Descolonizando modos performáticos: incertezas, certezas e resistências.
Resumo curto / Short abstract
Convidamos apresentações que buscam descolonizar formas de imaginar, pesquisar, descrever e/ou realizar modos performáticos para contraporem-se às “condições da performance neo-liberal”. Incentivamos trabalhos que reflitam outras modalidades de pensar, narrar e pôr em prática as potências do incerto e do imprevisível face às zonas de certezas hegemónicas.

Se a pandemia acentuou dúvidas e incertezas a respeito do presente, essas foram exacerbadas por questões anteriores como a acensão do neo-fascismo. Como afirmado recentemente em relação ao Brasil “o passado é tão incerto como o futuro” (Reinhardt, 2021); talvez nem seja mais possível pensar num passado a ser ‘disputado.’ Simultaneamente, certas ‘certezas’ se apresentam mais fortes do que nunca: racismo; desigualdades; hetero-normatividade; normalização da ameaça e até do genocídio de grupos minoritários e de corpas dissidentes; impunidade dos privilegiados. Se tais incertezas e certezas fazem parte do que Lepecki (2016: 12) designa como as “condições da performance neoliberal,” ou se as ferramentas do protesto performativo se expandem a sectores radicais de extrema-direita ou conservadores, então talvez seja necessário descolonizar as formas de imaginar, pesquisar, descrever e/ou realizar os modos performáticos para transformar ou oferecer alternativas àquelas condições. A própria incerteza a respeito do que seja a ‘performance’ enquanto conceito e prática, pode ser acionada, de modo a abrir-se ao inesperado do ‘objeto’. Convidamos apresentações que lidam com outros modos performáticos de pensar, narrar e pôr em prática as potências do incerto e do imprevisível face às zonas de certezas hegemónicas nos mais diversos formatos de apresentação.

Decolonizing performative acts: uncertainties, certainties and resistances.
Resumo curto / Short abstract
We invite presentations that seek to decolonize forms of imagining, researching, describing or enacting performances in ways that counterpose them to the “conditions of neo-liberal performance” (Lepecki, 2016: 12). We hope to attract works exemplifying other ways of thinking, narrating and putting into practice the powers of the uncertain in the face of hegemonic certainties.

If the pandemic increased doubts and uncertainties in regard to the present, this was exacerbated by previous problems such as the rise of neofascism. As stated recently in relation to Brazil, “the past is as uncertain as the future” (Reinhardt, 2021); perhaps it’s not even possible to think of the past as something there to be ‘disputed.’ At the same time, certain ‘certainties’ are showing up stronger than ever: racism, inequalities; heteronormativity; the normalization of the threat to and even genocide of minoritarian groups and dissident bodies; the impunity of the privileged. If these uncertainties and certainties make up what Lepecki (2016: 12) names the “conditions of Neo-liberal performance,” even as the mechanisms of performative protest are taken up by proponents of the extreme right, then perhaps it is necessary to decolonize the way to imagine, research, describe and/or enact performative modes to transform or propose alternatives to those conditions. The very uncertainty of what constitutes ‘performance’ as a concept and practice can be taken up in such a way as to open to the unexpected in/of its ‘object’. We invite presentations, in varied formats, that address other performative ways of thinking, narrating and putting into practice the powers of the uncertain and the unpredictable in the face of hegemonic zones of certainty.
