Resumo curto / Short abstract
Objetivamos adensar o debate sobre as transformações nos modos de fazer das culturas juvenis no século XXI, buscando análises etnográficas que contemplem a relação entre juventudes, estéticas e políticas, dialogando com alguns dos desafios do presente: precariedade, migrações, destruição do Estado social, ascensão do populismo, vigilância, crise climática, pandemia.

As culturas juvenis e as suas expressões estéticas são fenómenos de extrema relevância à compreensão dos jovens como sujeitos políticos. Incentivados pelos novos dispositivos digitais, eles promovem trocas económicas e simbólicas que desafiam o controlo estatal e o estatuto de subalternidade que lhes é imposto, principalmente quando se trata de uma juventude desfavorecida e racializada. Perante um século de incertezas, as intervenções estéticas/políticas dos jovens são bastante profícuas para problematizar as profundas mudanças que estamos a viver em relação às sociabilidades, às identidades, às relações intergeracionais, aos afetos, ao consumo, às desigualdades sociais, às resistências e às mobilizações artístico-ativistas.
Com a finalidade de adensar o debate sobre as transformações nos modos de fazer juvenis, buscamos trabalhos que apresentem análises etnográficas que contemplem a relação entre juventudes, estéticas e políticas, dialogando com alguns dos desafios do presente século: precariedade, migrações, destruição do Estado social, ascensão do populismo, vigilância, crise climática, pandemia. O objetivo deste painel será apontar tendências e hipóteses para onde caminham as culturas juvenis no século XXI. Como se organizam? Que sentidos sociais, políticos e culturais são mobilizados? Em que medida tais formas de expressão tensionam as relações intergeracionais? Que conflitos, identidades e utopias são revelados pelas suas estéticas?

The purpose of this panel is to deepen the debate about the transformations of youth cultures in the 21st century, seeking ethnographic analyzes that contemplate the relationship between youth, aesthetics and politics, dialoguing with some of the challenges of the present: precariousness, migrations, destruction of the welfare state, ascension of populism, surveillance, climate crisis, pandemic.

Youth cultures and their aesthetic expressions are extremely relevant phenomena to the understanding of young people as political subjects. Encouraged by new digital devices, they promote economic and symbolic exchanges that challenge state control and the status of subalternity imposed on them, especially when they are black and marginalized youth. In the face of a century of uncertainty, the aesthetic/political interventions of young people are quite fruitful for problematizing the profound changes we are experiencing in relation to sociability, identities, intergenerational relationships, affections, consumption, social inequalities, resistance and to artistic-activist interventions.
In order to deepen the debate about the transformations in the juvenile cultural practices, , we seek papers that present ethnographic analyzes that contemplate the relationship between youth, aesthetics and politics, dialoguing with some of the challenges of the present century: precariousness, migrations, destruction of the welfare state, growth of populism, intensified surveillance, climate crisis, pandemic. The objective of this panel will be to point out trends and hypotheses on where youth cultures are heading in the 21st century. How are they organized? What social, political and cultural meanings are mobilized? To what extent do these forms of expression affect intergenerational relationships? What conflicts, identities and utopias are revealed by their aesthetics?
