Continuar plantando e cuidando da água é motivo de resistência na Aldeia Abelhinha, desde as gerações mais novas até as mais anciãs. Localizada na Terra Indígena Sangradouro, no estado do Mato Grosso/Brazil, os indígenas Xavante se encontram cercados e ameaçados pelo avanço do agronegócio, mas é se mantendo enraizados em sua terra que continuam re-existindo.
To continue to plant and take care of the water is the reason for the resistance in Aldeia Abelhinha, from the youngest to the oldest generations. Located in the Sangradouro Indigenous Land, in the state of Mato Grosso/Brazil, the Xavante indigenous people are surrounded and threatened by the advance of agribusiness, but it is by keeping rooted in their land that they continue re-existing.

As aldeias no sudoeste da Bulgária, entre as montanhas Rila de um lado e as montanhas Rhodope do outro, são conhecidas há muito tempo pelo cultivo e produção de tabaco. Os muçulmanos pomaks que ainda realizam este trabalho enfrentam um declínio na produção devido ao baixo preço de compra das folhas secas de tabaco e às difíceis condições de trabalho. O filme etnográfico “Tobacco Memories” segue Fatme e a sua família na aldeia Debren (sudoeste da Bulgária) e mostra as dimensões espaciais e materiais da produção do tabaco e a relação da família com o estilo de vida que está a desaparecer lentamente.
The villages in southwestern Bulgaria, between the Rila Mountains on the one side and Rhodope Mountains on the other, have been long known for cultivation and production of tobacco. Muslim Pomaks that are still engaged in this work are facing a decline in production due to the low purchase price of dry tobacco leaves and difficult working conditions. The ethnographic film “Tobacco Memories” follows Fatme and her family in the village of Debren (southwest Bulgaria) and shows the spatial and material dimensions of tobacco production and the familiy’s relationship to the slowly disappearing lifestyle.

Esta é uma história de exclusão, que levou uma propriedade rural familiar a uma série de crises financeiras, emocionais e habitacionais. A família resiste e molda redes de ativistas que agora estão a ajudar outros na mesma situação. Dentro desta crise sistêmica, agricultores e trabalhadores protestam e organizam-se mesmo que os seus sucessos sejam parciais. O protesto final de Antonia e Matías foi deixar El Ejido. Na sua nova quinta em Almócita, experimentam uma forma diferente de fazer as coisas, a partir da relação próxima que o casal tem com a terra, com os organismos vivos do solo e com a sua comunidade. Hoje, eles têm uma próspera horta de permacultura onde estabeleceram o seu próprio banco de sementes, organizam cursos de formação em agricultura emocional, recebem visitantes nas suas acomodações rurais e trabalham no sentido de organizar a primeira cooperativa de permacultura para que um mercado de produção alternativo possa realmente ser constituído.
This is a story of exclusion, which has led a family farm to a series of financial, emotional and housing crises. They have resisted and shaped activist networks that are now helping others in the same situation. Within this systemic crisis, farmers and workers protest and organise themselves even if successes are partial. Antonia and Matías’ ultimate protest was to leave El Ejido. In their new farm in Almócita, they experiment with a different way of doing things, based on the close relationship the couple have with the land, with the living organisms in the soil, and with their community. Today they have a thriving permaculture garden where they are establishing their own seed bank, delivering emotional agriculture training courses, hosting visitors in their rural accommodation and working to set up the first permaculture cooperative, so that an alternative production market can actually be constituted.
