O presente painel problematiza os processos relacionais através dos quais a dignidade humana é definida, classificada e justificada em diversos ambientes institucionais e por meio de processos políticos, e as práticas diárias de subsistência e moralidades que a sustentam.

A pandemia da Covid-19 intensificou os efeitos cumulativos de várias crises (e.g. económica, social, ambiental) com consequências relevantes no modo como as pessoas conseguem aceder a instrumentos para negociar o valor e a legitimidade política de distintas conceções de dignidade humana, ou adquirirem capacidades para investir em projetos intergeracionais conducentes a uma vida digna. Simultaneamente, a pandemia reforçou o papel dos estados nacionais, das suas organizações, instituições e enquadramentos tipológicos, na gestão e mitigação de vulnerabilidades sociais e económicas emergentes.
O presente painel problematiza os processos relacionais através dos quais a dignidade humana é definida, classificada e justificada em diversos ambientes institucionais e por meio de processos políticos, e as práticas diárias de subsistência e moralidades que a sustentam.
Convidamos a apresentação de artigos que abordem: a) a interação entre as lógicas morais das pessoas e as suas racionalidades de dignidade, e aquelas inerentes às instituições mediadoras de bem-estar, cuidados e proteção social; b) como a dignidade humana é produzida, representada e negociada no contexto de ambientes institucionais e tipologias classificatórias, e, c) as moralidades normativas e regimes de valores mobilizados pelas pessoas para definir e legitimar a satisfação de necessidades materiais e imateriais conducentes a uma vida digna.

This panel problematizes the relational processes through which human dignity is defined, classified and justified in different institutional settings and through political processes, and the daily liveli-hood practices and moralities that sustain it.
Resumo longo / Long abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic intensified the cumulative effects of various crises (e. g. economic, social, environmental) with relevant consequences for how people can access instruments to negotiate the value and political legitimacy of different conceptions of human dignity, and/ or acquire skills to invest in intergenerational projects conducive to a life with dignity. Simultaneously, the pandemic reinforced the role of national states, their organizations, institutions and typological frameworks, in the management and mitigation of emerging social and economic vulnerabilities.
This panel problematizes the relational processes through which human dignity is defined, classified and justified in different institutional settings and through political processes, and the daily liveli-hood practices and moralities that sustain it.
We invite the presentation of articles that address: a) the interaction between the moral logics of people and their rationalities of dignity, and those inherent to the institutions that mediate the provi-sioning of well-being resources, care and social protection; b) how human dignity is produced, rep-resented and negotiated in the context of institutional environments and classificatory typologies, and, c) the normative moralities and value regimes mobilized by people to define and legitimize the satisfaction of material and immaterial needs conducive to a worthy livelihood.
