Cultural Programme

In order to establish a dialogue with the territory outside the academy, APA worked on a cultural programme parallel to the congress and in collaboration with other institutions in the region. We will have workshops on the construction of chordophones - violas campaniças - at the Convento dos Remédios (subject to previous enrolment), artistic exhibitions in various spaces of the city, a concert with the band Poket Rocket at the emblematic Sociedade Harmonia Eborense and the Anthropology and Film Programme, taking place at the University and at the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida.

OPENING: On the 6th, at 2.30 p.m., we will have the opening of the exhibition "The 20's: new plasticities", in the Public Library. This opening will travel to the Colégio Espírito Santo for a visit to the art exhibitions located there, which will be followed, at 4 p.m., by a welcome session in the Main Cloister of the Espirito Santo College. Then, from 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., there will be a Round Table with the participation of guests from various institutions: Cultural Heritage in the Alentejo in the new 1920s: what challenges, uncertainties and resistances?

We will then proceed to the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, where a cocktail will be served, accompanied by a musical moment by the Ethnographic Choir of Serpa. An art exhibition will be opened, with pieces by 3 artists - Ai Weiwei, Niek te Wierik and Sara Leme - and, finally, after dinner, the opening of the Anthropology and Film Programme will take place in an open-air session.

All these activities are free and open to the community.
