Resumo curto / Short abstract
Este painel aborda a forma como diferentes sujeitos pós-coloniais ativam, rejeitam e/ou utilizam memórias coloniais e atributos sociais para negociar formas de ser nacional e europeu. Sublinhando o conceito de constelações de memória, pretende-se endereçar práticas, afetos e materialidades relacionadas com a recordação do passado colonial no presente pós-colonial.

No cenário atual de polarização ideológica, crise económica e social, pandemia do COVID-19 e aprofundamento das desigualdades pós-coloniais globais, qual é o papel dos legados do passado colonial e da descolonização diante dos desafios que as sociedades Europeias pós-coloniais enfrentam hoje? Qual o estatuto dos sujeitos pós-coloniais dentro das fronteiras de uma Europa multicultural, indissociável ela própria da desintegração dos antigos impérios coloniais europeus?
Focando-se no contexto da Europa pós-colonial, este painel pretende abordar a forma como diferentes sujeitos pós-coloniais ativam, rejeitam e/ou fazem uso de diversas memórias coloniais e atributos sociais para negociar formas de ser nacional e europeu. Em particular, pretende-se abordar a reificação ou negação do papel nação e do império; o papel da intersecção entre classe, raça, género e cidadania; e transculturalidade dos movimentos sociais decoloniais no processo dialógico de fazer memória nos vários contextos pós-coloniais europeus. Tendo por base o conceito de constelações de memória, o painel pretende endereçar práticas, afetos e materialidades relacionadas com a recordação do passado colonial no presente pós-colonial.

This panel approaches the way different post-colonial subjects activate, reject or use colonial memories and social attributes to negotiate forms of being national and European. Underlining the concept of constellations of memory, it intends to address practices, affections and materiality within the recollection of the colonial past in post-colonial present.

In the current scenario of ideological polarization, social and economic crisis, Covid-19 pandemics and the deepening of global post-colonial inequalities, what is the role of the legacies of colonial past and of decolonization in face of the challenges that the post-colonial European societies confront nowadays? What is the statute of the post-colonial subjects within frontiers of a multicultural Europe which is inseparable of the disintegration of the old European colonial empires?
Focusing on the context of post-colonial Europe, this panel proposes to approach the way different post-colonial subjects activate, reject or use diverse colonial memories and social attributes in order to negotiate forms of being national and European. One aims at discussing both the reification and denial of the role of the nation and the empire; the place of intersections between class, race, gender and citizenship; and the transculturality of the decolonial social movements in the dialogical process of making memory in many European post-colonial contexts. Having the concept of constellations of memory as a basis, the panel intends to address practices, affections and materiality related to the recollection of the colonial past in the post-colonial present.
